Wisbech Gala
The Swans took to the water for their second gala of the season with a full team of 23. The team captains and a few of the more experienced swimmers led a young squad for whom this was only their first or second ever gala. All swam with the Swans’ great determination and spirit that is being recognised across the squad. Alongside the other trademark Swans feature of very loud poolside support for the Swan in the water! Great teamwork!
The gala was hosted by Wisbech, with other teams fielded from First Strokes and Ely and St Neots finished 3rd.
A raft of PB’s have been created and achieved once again, in fact very few of the races swum didn’t make a PB. There has been a leap in improvement in the breaststroke category with notable attainments made by Tilly Sayer, Thea Brace and Evie Ruffles all swimming new PB’s at Wisbech compared to their last JFL meet from 2 weeks ago. Great to see this development. In fact, across the entire breaststroke category every single swimmer made PB’s!
There were also a notable number of races won which all contributed a quarter of the total points won! Race winners included: Isabella Ricketts (Bk), Matthew Albone (Brst & Bk), Joshua Needham (Bk), Abigail Sabine (Fly & Free) and Lyla Sabine (Brst).
With the team captains naming Lyla Sabine and Matthew Needham their swimmers of the gala - well done to you both and great swimming all!
Many thanks to Wisbech for hosting a hugely enjoyable and fun gala and thanks to the other teams and all the volunteers - we hope to see you all again next year!
