County Champs Success

Cambridgeshire ASA County Championships 2018
The County Championships ran over 3 weekends throughout January and ended the last weekend of February.
St Neots Swans had a total of 14 swimmers from the Cygnet(4) and Swan(10) squads who qualified with county times to compete at the championships.
New PB’s were set throughout the championships and some were smashed out of the water.
Notably:
- Ruby Lane wiping a full 4 seconds off her 50m breaststroke to earn her a place in the final and repeat the swim to finish in 4th place
- Luca Strazzulo clearing 2 seconds from his 50m breaststroke and then repeating in the final to not only come first and win the Gold medal, thereby becoming County Champion for 50m breaststroke 12 year age group, but also by swimming a regional qualifying time
- Darcy Button smashing her previous PB by 9 seconds in the women’s 15 age group 200m freestyle and obtaining 3rd place to take home the Bronze medal
- Ellie Thompson dropping 5 secs for a new pb in women’s 400m free
- Luca Strazzulo wiping 9secs off 100m breaststroke to obtain a place in the final and finishing 4th
- Ewan Thompson clearing away 6 secs from his pb on the 100m breaststroke to finish in 7th place
- Emily and Ellie both making pbs and 8th place in 100m freestyle 14 yrs and 15 yrs respectively
- Joshua Needham storming through - cutting a massive 24 secs off his pb to finish 2nd in 200m breaststroke 11 yrs and earning a well deserved silver medal
- Ewan winning 3rd place in 200m breaststroke 12 yrs and taking home the bronze medal
- Ruby repeating her performance in the 100m breaststroke, dropping 5 secs for a new pb and gaining 5th place in the final
- Darcy dropping 2 secs for a new pb and gaining 8th place in 50m butterfly 15 yrs
- Amy Rickwood dropping a second to pb and gain 6th place in final of 50m backstroke
- Luca made 7th place in men’s 50m freestyle final 12yrs with a pb of 32.68
- Emily Williams swam the fastest heat of all swans in 50m free with a new pb of 31.05
So Emily is officially the fastest swimmer at Swans at the minute and is the one to beat! Who’s up for the challenge?
